It was originally built by the Southern Railway in 1914 and today serves as the penultimate station along the Virginia Railway Express Manassas Line, as well as a stop on three Amtrak trains. The cover of the Manassas double album, released in 1972 by the Chris Hillman and Stephen Stills band of the same name, showed the musicians standing on the north end of the then-Southern Railway depot.
