Autorenporträt
Holly Wynne was born in Syracuse, New York in 1953 while her father, a veteran of WWII, was a student at Syracuse University. Soon, he was employed in the capital city of Albany and moved the family to a nearby small town. Later, the family moved to Long Island. Holly graduated from Hofstra University in 1976 with a double major in both Art History and Elementary Education. She soon married and opened a gift shop in Lake Placid, New York. After several years, the family moved to Sarasota, Florida where she raised her four children and was employed as a 4-5th grade Gifted Education teacher in the Sarasota County Schools. She concluded her teaching career at Pine View School for the Gifted in Osprey, Florida, where she taught Language Arts and Social Studies. Retiring early from teaching in 2009, once her children were grown, she now pursues a full time writing career. She lives with her husband Gary O'Brien and their English Sheep dog Brutus in both Connecticut and Florida and enjoys the beauty and contrasts of both worlds. Through her writing, she hopes to help children to ask meaningful Big Questions, increase their awareness of history and enhance their appreciation for life's details. She also wants to set a good role model example for girls with her inquisitive and good hearted main character, Katie. Holly's strong ties to New York State, both Upstate and on Long Island, her experience with children both as a parent of four, a teacher, and now as a grandmother of eight, as well as her professional credentials, give her a perspective well suited to writing this trilogy of historic - visionary novels for children.
