The book series on manufacturing processes for engineers is a reference work for scientific and industrial experts. This volume on Turning, Milling and Drilling starts from the basic principles of machining with geometrically defined cutting edges based on a common active principle. In addition, appropriate tool designs as well as the reasonable use of cutting material are presented. This volume on Turning, Milling and Drilling starts from the basic principles of machining with geometrically defined cutting edges based on a common active principle. In addition, appropriate tool designs as well as the reasonable use of cutting material are presented. A detailed chapter about the machinability of the most important workpiece materials, such as steel and cast iron, light metal alloys and high temperature resistant materials imparts a broad knowledge of the interrelations between workpiece materials, cutting materials and process parameters.
This book is in the RWTHedition Series as are the other four volumes of the reference work.
Professor Dr.-Ing. Dr.-Ing. E.h. Dr. h.c. Dr. h.c. Fritz Klocke has been Professor of Manufacturing Engineering Technology, director of the WZL Laboratory for Machine Tools & Production Engineering at the RWTH Aachen University, and head of the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology IPT in Aachen since 1995. A doctorate of honoris causa "Dr. E.h." was bestowed upon him by the University of Hannover in 2006, a second doctorate of honoris causa "Dr. h.c." was bestowed upon him by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2009 and a third doctorate of honoris causa "Dr. h.c." was bestowed upon him by the Keio University of Tokyo in 2010. Professor Klocke was CIRP President from 2007-2008.
