Brazilian medical education is undergoing transformations to level up to contemporary globalization in the knowledge society. The new National Curriculum Guidelines (DCN) aim to constitute professionals whose profile of skills and competencies will allow them to intervene in the professional practice in a critical, collective and integrative way. Theoretical changes are necessary, as well as changes in the practice scenarios of the teaching-learning processes, in order to stimulate improvements in medical education. In this context, Distance Medical Education (DME) is closely inserted in the assumptions of the new DCN's to increase curricular changes in line with the health needs of the population.
