In this bi-lingual storybook (English and Spanish), Marco and his abuela exchange Valentine surprises: a handmade card and a tin of heart-shaped cookies. But when one goes missing in the mail and days go by without the package being delivered, Marco wonders what could have happened to it. At bedtime, his imagination takes him on a wild exploration of increasingly fanciful scenarios of how the package may have disappeared and to where. At last the mystery is solved, the package is delivered, and all is well. Children will relate to the feelings of anticipation being put on hold, the unsettling experience of not having the answer to something unknown, as well as the satisfying resolution when an explanation is found. Both children and parents will find amusement and delight in the colorful illustrations. More to enjoy: the recipe for the cookies is included at the end. With text presented in both English and Spanish, this book makes a worthy addition to bookshelves in bi-lingual homes and classrooms.

Autorenporträt
In 2016, following her life-long instinct of "belonging" in New England, Laura Lander made the leap of relocating from Kentucky to coastal Maine, where natural beauty abounds. One of her early explorations led her to Wolfe's Neck Woods State Park, the inspiration for this fourth of her books for children.
