All countries that produce olive oil are concerned by the management of margines, mainly the countries of the Mediterranean, namely Spain, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Syria, Tunisia and Morocco. Since the 1970s, "the management of margines" has been the subject of great attention from scientific institutions and public bodies in order to reduce the amount of margines released during the extraction of olive oil through the elimination operations, or to reinject them into the economic cycle following what is called "circular economy" through the recovery operations.
