A research was accomplished in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Arts in English and submitted to the central Department of English, T.U. Nepal in 2012. It explores the marginalization of mixed-race women (Tragic Mulattos) at two level; race and gender in the then contemporary American society. Lisa Jones selection of four female characters and their situation encircling the play touches the issue on the double marginalization. Jones observes the life of the poor women such as Vendetta Goldwomen, Specimen Number One, Specimen Number Two, and Specimen Number Three. The Four gergeous female Characters are from mixed-parentage and could not fit themselves completely into either black or white culture and suffering from color and gender descrimination, and live as an undervalued, marginalized minority. This research also depicts their consciousness and resistance against it.
