This work explores women's rebellion and their empowerment through body discourses in Margaret Atwood's novel The Handmaid's Tale. the female protagonist, Offred's struggle; how she gradually empowers herself using her body as a tool is projected in this research. The traumatic experience of the past of the female protagonist helps her in her process of empowerment along with other handmaids, and that redefines the binary role of genders by subverting the socio-cultural structure of the republic of Gilead.
