Autorenporträt
Michael Karydis studied natural sciences in the University of Athens, Greece (BSc 1973) and specialized in phytoplankton ecology and toxicology in the University of North Wales, UK (PhD 1978). He worked as a researcher on marine eutrophication in the Nuclear Research Center "Democritus" and the National Center for Marine Research (Greece). He is a professor in the University of the Aegean, Greece, in marine environmental quality. For several years he has been publishing work in marine eutrophication. He has also offered his expertise to international organizations and institutions. Dimitra Kitsiou is Associate Professor in the Department of Marine Sciences at the University of the Aegean, Greece. She studied Physics at the University of Athens, Greece and holds a PhD in Environmental Sciences from the University of the Aegean, Greece. Her research interests focus on the development of methodologies using modern expertise for the study of the coastal environment, the spatio-temporal assessment of marine eutrophication as well as on coastal zone management and marine spatial planning. She has participated in many national and international research projects and has offered her services as an international expert in the European Union and other international organizations.
