The objective of this study is to understand to what extent psychosociological determinants such as the socio-cultural affiliation of spouses/partners and the contribution of spouses/partners to household expenses influence the occurrence of disputes in couples in Abidjan. 560 spouses/partners, including 280 men and 280 women from six communes in the district of Abidjan, constitute the sample. The results indicate that the socio-cultural affiliation of the spouses/partners (hetero-cultural couples, homo-cultural couples), and the contribution of the spouses/partners to the household expenses, have a link with the occurrence of disputes in couples in Abidjan. Indeed, these results stipulate that hetero-cultural couples present a higher number of disputes than homo-cultural couples, which is equal, on the other hand, in homo-cultural couples where the contribution of each spouse to the household expenses is not formally identified, and in homo-cultural couples where the contribution of each spouse to the household expenses is formally identified.
