The present study was on the marital relationship of men. The aim of the study was to determine the effects of type of marriage and occupational status of the wife and their interaction on dimensions of marital relationship namely marital quality, love attitude, conflict tactics and gender role stress. The main aims of the study were twofold, (1) to determine the effects of type of marriage and occupational status of the wife and their interaction on these two dimensions, (2) to examine the association of gender role stereotype (gender role identity and gender role attitude) with regard to the above mentioned aspects. Accordingly, a two-phase research design was planned. The analyses revealed that type of marriage and occupational status of wife had differential effect on different groups. The gender role variables were also found to be associated with many relationship variables. The results have been discussed in terms of the theoretical underpinnings.
