Awet T. Weldemichael is Queen's National Scholar in African History at Queen's University, Canada. He is currently researching contemporary Somalia and its adjoining waters. Patricia Schneider is a Senior Researcher at the Institute for Peace Research and Security Policy and teaches in the Peace and Security Studies program at the University of Hamburg, Germany. She is an expert on maritime security and terrorism and co-edits the quarterly journal Sicherheit und Frieden - Security and Peace.
