Dry fish production and marketing plays an important role in employment generation and improving nutritional status of people. A large number of intermediaries are involved in dry fish production and marketing in India at different levels, such as drying, assembling, grading, packaging, wholesaling, retailing, storing and transportation. Only a few studies have been conducted on dry fish marketing in India. Moreover, literature surveyed showed that no study has been conducted till date on marketing costs, margins and price spread of dry fish in India. In this background, the present study was conducted to assess the costs, margins and price spread across the marketing channels and to analyze the livelihood generation by different stakeholders involved in dry fish marketing in Jagiroad dry fish market.
