The Viscountcy of Goderich was created a second time in 1827, in the Peerage of the United Kingdom, for the first holder's great-great-grandson, Frederick John Robinson, Chancellor of the Exchequer and brother of the 3rd Baron Grantham. Lord Goderich served as Prime Minister from 1827 to 1828, and was created Earl of Ripon in 1833. The Marquessate of Ripon was created for his son George, 2nd Earlof Ripon in 1871. All the titles became extinct in 1923. Although knighted upon the English Restoration, the Robinsons were Lord Mayors of York in a previous era.
