In the 1980s in Texas, a young attorney stumbles into a mystery unfolding on various levels-personal, legal, political, moral, and spiritual. A plane crashes in a storm, leaving two people dead. The event threatens an important transaction for Arthur Stone's law firm involving Marshland Savings Association. Worst of all, his life and career may be at risk as well. This mystery involves family members, a special forces officer, drug dealers, high-level financiers, and the intelligence community. Is there more than meets the eye? The trouble begins off the coast of Africa, where a hurricane is forming, then moves to central Mexico, to Houston, and as far as San Miguel de Allende. Beneath the obvious, earthly and unearthly powers appear to be working with unknown intent. Only time will tell whether those involved will emerge whole. Something is wrong in Texas-even Mother Nature seems upset! In a time of financial crisis, when excessive lending and risk-taking are devastating an entire industry, a diverse cast of characters encounter death, betrayal, and emerging faith.Hinweis: Dieser Artikel kann nur an eine deutsche Lieferadresse ausgeliefert werden.
Alystair West is the pen name of Chris Scruggs (George Christopher Scruggs), a retired pastor and lawyer who lives in Texas. The decision to use a pen name was to distinguish previously published Biblical and Theological works by Chris Scruggs, from fiction works by Alystair West. The choice of pseudonym, "Alystair West", involved careful pondering of the original goal envisioned for the novels. "Alystair" , is of Greek origin and means "defender of men, protector of men". The Scottish spelling was adopted because of family connections with Scotland. "West" was chosen because C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkein, two lifetime favorite authors, both spoke of "Men of the West", who delivered the values of the Christian Faith and Classical wisdom. Therefore, the fiction works of Alystair West have an underlying objective of giving inspiration and guidance ('defense') to western civilization today. The intention is to publish two sequels to Marshland (2023), and develop the characters of Arthur and Gwynn Stone, John Mirador, and E.J. Mueller as human beings who seek to find in their lives a kind of unity amidst the disintegrating forces of our society and what is sometimes called, "post-modernity."
