Materials and Structures in Cold Regions: The Impact of Low Temperatures on Construction Materials and the Structural Behaviour of Structural Members is based on the latest research undertaken at Tianjin University, P.R. China and National University of Singapore. The book provides detailed experimental research on the influences of low temperatures on the mechanical properties of constructional materials and structural behavior of typical structural members at low temperatures, e.g., beams, columns, and walls. The theoretical and numerical models in the book on structural members at low temperatures simplifies and provides guidelines for structural engineers working on cold-region projects. The book blends the fundamental development of concepts with the practical specification of materials and structures at low temperatures.
Autorenporträt
Jia-Bao Yan, Ph. D, Professor at Department of Civil Engineering, Tianjin University, P.R. China. Prof. Jia-Bao Yan received his Doctoral Degree from National University of Singapore in 2012, and is currently the Deputy Head of the Department of Civil Engineering at Tianjin University, China. His research covers a wide spectrum of interests including steel-concrete composite structure, cold-region infrastructures, Arctic offshore structures, large span structures, lightweight and high strength materials, seismic and blast design, and marine and offshore installations. Prof. Yan has published more than 130 SCI indexed papers (first/corresponding authored papers more than 120), four books (In Chinese), and involving in drafting three Chinese codes (one is for steel-concrete-steel sandwich structures). He received several research awards, including the Best Paper Award from International Journal of Steel Structures and Korea Society of Steel Institute
