The importance of the health sector to global development cannot be gainsaid. Both the Millenium Development Goals (MDG's) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDG's) have health as a critical component for achievement of global development. Utilization of Maternal health care service is an important health issue related to both maternal and child survival as it reduces maternal mortality and morbidity as well as improving the wellbeing of mothers and their children before, during and after birth. Considering low utilization of maternal health care service especially in Sub-Saharan Africa, understanding what determines utilization becomes important. This book tries to expound on the determinants of maternal healthcare services utilization especially in a resource poor setting and provides recommendations on possible measures to be taken to scale up utilization of maternal healthcare services with an aim of reducing maternal mortality and morbidity.
