An observational-descriptive study was conducted in 18 mothers of the Municipality of Florencia, in the period between 2018 and 2020, who presented children with Low Birth Weight, with the objective of characterizing the maternal risk factors that lead to Low Birth Weight in the family doctor's offices of the Municipality of Florencia in the period studied. The research problem was defined as: What characterizes the maternal risk factors that lead to Low Birth Weight in the Municipality of Florencia? The procedures and instruments used in the research were: interview, survey, observation, documentary analysis and medical and paramedical procedures. The universe consisted of 28 mothers with low birth weight. Of these, 10 mothers were excluded because they were outside the area. In order to obtain the primary data, a survey was applied at the beginning of the research, obtaining a previous diagnosis where the needs on the subject were detected, resulting in low birth weight, sepsisdue to Candida Albicans, chronic non-communicable diseases, short inter-gestational period, maternal age under 19 and over 35 years old.
