The book is devoted to the application of the principle of selective ignorance for constructing a mathematical framework for optics of ultrashort pulses, including their generation, cleaning, propagation, amplification, and focusing. The principle of selective ignorance has two sides: on the one hand it is a "first principles method", and on the other hand it is different kinds of one-to-one correspondence (dualities and analogies).
