Problem solving is of great importance in teaching, so it should no longer be used only for students to apply the knowledge learned and the corresponding skills. For this purpose, it is necessary to use methods that allow providing them with "tools" that favor the development of intellectual skills and modes of mental activity for the solution of everyday problems. This research proposes the contextualization of a didactic procedure that consists of structuring principles, rules, strategies and heuristic aids within the fundamental phases of the General Heuristic Program (GHP), so as to provide the necessary resources for the successful execution of each main task. The main methods employed include historical and logical, inductive and deductive, modeling and observation. The proposed procedure was applied in the "Germán Columbié Cruz" elementary school (Cuba) and the results obtained support the effectiveness of the proposal to solve mathematical problems.
