Max Burk lives a small safe life behind the sturdy walls of the house left to him by his beloved grandmother. His days revolve around his art, his imagination and occasionally his best friend Brant, the only person Max trusts enough to leave his house with. He's resigned to his fate. At twenty-four life has already taught him that the world is a cruel frightening place and that often the people who say they love you don't mean it and that the people who do love you can be taken away. One day he hears laughter outside and even though he knows that whatever happens out there is best left out there, he carefully peaks out his front window to see who is making such a happy sound. He sees three men unloading a moving van. Young men that are big confident and gorgeous, everything he isn't. Unfortunately, they see him looking and one of them crosses the street and knocks on his door. Max opens his door and that simple brave act changes everything.

Autorenporträt
This all started on a whim because I'm one of those introverted artsy types that likes to try new things and one day right around my 60th birthday I said what the heck let's see what that Word thingy on my computer does. I love the hard work of creating things with my own two hands, whether that thing is a piece of beaded jewelry, the sculpture of a dragon or a pile of words that become a story. Thank you for taking the time to read something I wrote. I hope you enjoyed the reading as much as I enjoyed the writing.
