The author of Mayhem and a Monster, Jason H. Finck, is a long-time resident of Northwestern Pennsylvania. He currently lives on 59 acres of farmland with his wife, three teenage sons and among the many other animals, his own black monster named Baby Cat. Jason's best memories are of his time spent, both as a child and as an adult, at the family summer home along French Creek. Days were full of activities that included playing in the woods and fields, swimming, fishing and canoeing in the pond and creek. Nights were filled with wonderful and scary tales, told around a campfire by Jason's father, followed by eerie excursions into the dark night with Jason's cousins and sons. Along with his story telling father, and the great summer adventures, Jason drew his creative ideas for Mayhem and a Monster from his love of the outdoors, his children's experiences, and the simple enjoyment of being scared when you know you are truly safe.
