I was born and raised in Aberdeen. I read English and History at Aberdeen University, where my love of literature was nurtured. I am married and have four children who have flown the nest. In my working life, I lived in various parts of Scotland but returned to Aberdeen, where I had a private consulting practice until I retired in 2022.
