The study was focused on the magnitude of magnetic fields measured in the vicinity of a microwave oven. Four microwave ovens with different brands and models have been carried out to measure the magnetic fields. From the measurement results, microwave ovens 1, 2 and 4 have exceeded the limit of 119.5 mG at 5 cm distance from the oven surface according to the Australian Standard 3301. From the measurement results, microwave ovens 1, 2 and 4 have exceeded the limit of 119.5 mG at 5 cm distance from the oven surface according to the Australian Standard 3301. Due to this reason, it is suggested to use a hard paper carton and hard plastic carton as shielding on microwave oven 1. However, only microwave oven 3 gives a value 76.9 mG which is not exceeded. The result shows that the shielding can reduce the microwave oven leakage by about 5 to 8 %.
