Industry is a must for the development of the society, but industrialisation should be safe to the human and animal health. Uncontrolled release of air pollutants is causing severe air pollution and diseases. Remedies from air pollution are thus required and it will be more recommendable if the remedies are more economic. Plants have an interesting property of indicating air pollution. Some Plants are tolerant to the air pollutants; some are sensitive to air pollutants. Sensitive and tolerant plant species can act as indicators and sinks to abate air pollution respectively. For the categorisation of the plant species, ascorbic acid content, chlorophyll content, pH and relative water content are measured to calculate air pollution tolerance indexing for the categorisation . Plantation may be recommended to control the air pollution. A number of environmental benefits can be gained by planting these tolerant species in polluted areas. Plantation, surrounding the industry area will increase the green field, arrest of air pollutant will occur more, level of SPM and RPM will decrease, visibility will increase. Oxygen level will increase. Air borne disease will decrease.
