Aluminium Matrix Composites (AMCs) are nowadays under serious consideration to replace conventional materials for a large number of structural applications such as those in the aeronautical/aerospace, transportation, defense and sports industries because of their superior properties. The excellent mechanical properties and the comparatively low cost make them as an attractive option. The present investigation deals with synthesis and tribological and mechanical properties evaluation of LM24 alloy based composites reinforced with B4C particles. The intention behind this work is to make a composite that is suitable for automotive applications i.e. for piston, cylinder block, piston rings etc.
