Babbitt-Ilmenite composite is fabricated via stir casting under controlled conditions. The process variables which include percentage weight of reinforcement, stirring speed ,aging time, applied load, sliding distance and sliding speed were optimized for enhancing the tribo-mechanical properties of the composite using Taguchi philosophy. The response variables include mechanical properties such as Hardness,Impact strength , tensile strength and tribological properties include wear loss and coefficient of friction. Taguchi orthogonal arrays were designed using MINITAB software to maximize the mechanical properties and minimize wear loss and coefficient of friction of the developed composite.
