Recently, the interaction of water-soluble porphyrins and metalloporphyrins with DNA has attracted extensive interest, the two basic modes of porphyrin binding to DNA can be used as models for the DNA binding of anticancer drugs. Also, the certain porphyrins are photosensitizers and can be useful in the photodynamic therapy of cancer, this therapy likely depends on the damage caused to DNA during photolysis. At present, the interaction of newly Fe- and Ag-containing porphyrins of different peripheral group with DNA at different media were investigated. The obtained data revealed that thermodynamics and mechanism of complexation can give a physical explanation to the processes that occur in biological systems so - decisively to influence them.
