S. R. Clark was born and raised in Lynn, Massachusetts; she earned her B.A. in English from Fitchburg State College, in 2007. While growing up in a large, southern family, Clark developed an appreciation for old-south literary works that dealt strongly with black/white segregation, slavery, and the civil rights movement.
