Present work reports isolation, characterization and antihepatotoxic evaluation of Lychnis coronaria, Marrubium vulgare and Berberis pachyacantha from Kashmir region against carbon tetrachloride induced toxicity using Silymarin as standard. Methanol extracts possessed significant antihepatotoxic potential as compared to petroleum ether and chloroform extracts. Phytochemical evaluation of these plants resulted in isolation of thirteen compounds including two novel compounds isolated from M. vulgare and B. pachyacantha for the first time. Dr. Masoodi is presently serving as Sr. Assistant Professor at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Kashmir,J&K, India. He has to his credit many scientific publications and review articles in journals of repute. He is the member of several scientific associations and is recipient of several prizes and awards for his papers.
