The present study has concluded the positive interaction between Tharu people of Ramdhuni municipality and plant species. They have been using those plant species for various purposes like, food, fodder, medicine, fiber, ornamental religious/ceremonial activities etc. The old age people and farmers were found to have sound knowledge about the plant species and their uses. Especially, local Dhamis and Jhakris had very good knowledge about medicinal plants and their uses. They have been preparing medicines from those plant species since long period of time. The plant species which has been reported in the present study were found to be helpful in the prevention, cure and treatment of diarrhoea, piles, menstrual disorder, pregnancy problem, cough and many more ailments. However, young people were not found to be interested in the present study. They have been attracted by the chemically synthesized medicines and readily available materials rather than the traditional medicines and materials. Traditional practices and knowledge should be transferred from generation to generation for the further use and continuation of this practice.
