For this purpose, the authors have carried out interdisciplinary research, which has taken shape in the exploration of a genuine connection between art and theology, philosophy or history, among others disciplines. The study of images of Christian tradition has ultimately been approached as a matter of cultural history. On the other hand, many of the articles on the Late Medieval period in this Special Issue acknowledge the considerable prominence of Marian in these images, but also of some saints, who have been studied from various perspectives.
