Autorenporträt
A freelance writer for over 25 years, Shirley Harrison is the recipient of countless corporate, community, and military awards, state and local proclamations, and a key to the City of Peekskill, NY. Shirley has served as a newsletter editor for the National Pan Hellenic Council, Eastern Region and newsletter editor for countless Black sorority and fraternity chapters. Additionally, she served as a freelance news reporter and served as the Editor of the Archon Magazine, the international publication for Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. A graduate of the State University College at Buffalo in New York, she received a B.S. in Business Studies with a minor in Spanish. She is the eldest child of two HBCU graduates. An Air Force Veteran, she attained the rank of Captain and received the Air Force Achievement Medal and Outstanding Junior Officer Award. Shirley is proud to achieve her lifelong dream of becoming a published author and to have the privilege of writing about the amazing adventures and achievements of her mother, Dillard University Alumna Jennie Lou McDonald Harrison. This book tells the story of an exceptional Black woman's journey chronicled though her life experiences in travel, career, youth involvement, and faith. Shirley obtained her strong work ethic and drive from her mother, as well as a love for serving the community.
