As a young man, he was enlisted into the naval service by his father, thereby allowing Cooper to survey the world beyond America. When he later began writing, James Fenimore Cooper's literary efforts were shaped by various encounters of his lifetime.

I was born and raised in East Vancouver. My mother is an immigrant from the island of Trinidad and my father is from SoCal. Together, they taught me to work hard and make reasonable choices. I hope to build my future at U. of Washington and spend a lifetime creating things.
