Art is the voice of our microcosm and since we need to communicate with the macrocosm, we produce art, we live art. Thus, we sought to analyse the figural discourse through artistic languages, looking for the representation of black women in Jean Baptiste-Debret, this artist being one of the many ways that show essential aspects of our culture, given its richness and diversity. In this work, we have established a cross-section of the daily lives of black people and our fauna and flora based on Debret, showing elements that have contributed to the formation of our country's territorial and cultural identity, which consist of portraits of Brazilianness. In this way, Debret invites us to explore the world of work and the social and functional habits of black people through his drawings. Finally, the black element achieved its forms of freedom through resistance, often without violence or even silence.
