This is not a story on any preconceived ideas on how youth or adults should behave in certain circumstances but just a natural thoughtful presumption of how people would react and behave when suddenly put in situation they neither predicted or would any experience at dealing with. This story can be likened to throwing a stone in pond everything is relatively normal and calm then suddenly there are waves coming from the middle crashing on to the sides and rebounding. Waves that gradually subside till the absolute calmness prevails again. We may not always envy Adam and Christine raising two teenage boys who can, as we know, be challenging at times, but keep to a natural response to a situation that has come of the blue. I'm not interested in creating any hero or villain in this story but would rather stick to the common sense approach to the unique problem, even though in the end it may seem more trivial than at first. The problem not being so trivial that doesn't introduce Shane to the new world of the realities of societies darker problems. In doing so it brings about the positive out comes that can occur when we go through difficult times. Again, I don't want a hero in this story that can single handedly save those who suffer or a troubled villain who only reacts in his or her own interests, but a saga of natural human responses we may or may not learn from but we can all appreciate. I was motivated to form this story on the premise of asking the question just how would average teens and parents react in these circumstances. While taking satisfaction in provoking a lot thought over this story I'm glad to have avoided any kind of preaching or political correctness, something I didn't intentionally have to do. And in doing so it took on a psychological philosophical tone while at the same time it may seem rather utopic, it does little to hide the naturally human weakness's and strengths of the characters involved. We may or may not experience anything like this in our own life times and may even learn something from it, but we're likely to find this relaxing and enjoyable.
