Autorenporträt

William Bateson (1861-1926) was a British geneticist and the first person to use the term genetics to describe the study of heredity. After Hugeo de Vries and Carl Correns rediscovered Gregor Mendel's work, Bateson popularized the ideas.

Gregor Mendel (1822-1884) was a priest and scientist from Austria. Mendel discovered that inherited traits in pea plants follow certain laws. His work in genetics was not acknowledged until after his death.
