This study is designed to investigate the effects and relationships of "mentorship and career progression, a study of the University of Jos Library". The objectives are: To ascertain the roles of mentor in career progression, to identify the levels of knowledge and awareness of the University of Jos Library staff on the various types of mentoring programmes, to ascertain the effects of mentorship on career progression, to determine the benefits of mentorship and career progression in the University of Jos Library and to find out the challenges of mentoring in the University of Jos Library. A key recommendation of the study is that management should see to it that the programme is implemented in the University of Jos library and also be included in the courses offered by Library and Information Science Unit, University of Jos Plateau State, Nigeria.
