Vanessa Valentine Werthan was a deeply spiritual person, even before her diagnosis with an aggressive form of Parkinson's disease. Her essays and poems reflect the deep knowing and inner wisdom that often arises from living with a terminal illness, and her words resonate deep in the soul of the reader. This book was lovingly compiled by her family, and includes drawings by her daughter Lily, as well as the eulogies given by her family, and a foreword by her beloved husband Allan. Vanessa Valentine Werthan was a brilliant spark of aliveness, curiosity, and wonder who fulfilled the myriad roles in her life (wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, friend, nurse, triathlete, volunteer) with love and aplomb. She died July 2019 of an aggressive form of Parkinson's disease, and though it took her strength and ability to communicate, her inner light, humor, and intellect always shone through. At the end, she primarily communicated by text message or email, painstakingly typed one letter at a time. May her memory be a blessing.
