This book highlights the work undertaken in the Arsenic contaminated sedimentary aquifers of Central Gangetic plain of India. The presence of elevated levels of dissolved Arsenic in groundwater has endangered lives of millions of people in the Central Gangetic plain. This book highlights the work undertaken in the Arsenic contaminated sedimentary aquifers of Central Gangetic plain of India. The presence of elevated levels of dissolved Arsenic in groundwater has endangered lives of millions of people in the Central Gangetic plain. This reconnaissance study was undertaken to highlight the role that aquifer sediments play in groundwater Arsenic contamination. Although there have been different studies that apparently substantiate the role that basin geology, hydrogeology, scale of heterogeneity, and depositional facies have on the hydrogeochemistry and therefore on the distribution of Arsenic in different aquifers of South East Asia. This book will further enhance the understanding of Arsenic in the sedimentary aquifers of Central Gangetic plain.
Autorenporträt
I did my Master's in Environmental Sciences from Jawaharlal Nehru University in 2007 and started my research on Hydrogeochemistry in the Central Gangetic plain. Presently carrying out PhD at School of Environmental Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and the research focuses on the sediment geochemistry.
