The present work describes polysaccharides based edible films for the purpose of using them as packaging material. The three biopolymers namely Chitosan, Cellulose acetate and Alginate were transformed into films and subsequently loaded with ZnO nanoparticles using different strategies. These films were investigated for water vapour permeability and moisture absorbency under different experimental conditions. The films were characterized by Thermogravimetric analysis, X-ray Diffraction, Differential Scanning colorimetery, Surface Plasmon Resonance, Transmission Electron Microscopy and tested for biocidal action against E-Coli as model bacteria.
