Out of 485 samples only 46 (9.48 %) were identified as coagulase Positive staphylococci (Staph aureus), In Hospital wards 5(10.9%) Staph aureus were identified, 4 in Al-Basra Teaching Hospital and one in Al-Sadder Teaching Hospital. (P>0.05)MecA genes appeared in all MRSA isolates while Hld gene appeared at 61.5% (24/39); followed by Sea gene at 41% (16/39) and Tst gene at 15.4% (6/39), the lowest presence in Seb genes, it was 10.3% (4/39).The distribution of genes in MRSA isolates showed that there were significant differences in the distribution of Seb gene in different samples, where the P…mehr

Hld gene also showed significant differences of distribution in different samples where it was found in 100% MRSA in both of hospital wards and Operating Theaters, 80% in patient nose, 71.4% in H.C.Ws nose, 60% in wound MRSA and 3.3% in patient skin swab MRSA. Negative Hld gene showed in H.C.Ws hand MRSA.
