Autorenporträt
J. Scott Haas grew up in Delaware and then moved to Virginia in 1981. Throughout his career, he served as a firefighter, a search and rescue incident commander, and worked for thirty-two years as a law enforcement officer. For eight of those years, he served as a sheriff for the Greene County Sheriff 's Office until his retirement in 2012. In 2006, Scott built a house on twenty-two acres of wooded land in Stanardsville, nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Scott's intention was to create a lasting memory for his grandchildren, ensuring that they would appreciate and understand the profound connection between the natural world and wildlife. With this goal in mind, he wrote his first book dedicated to Mia, his first grandchild. He shares his home with his wife, Carol, and they have twin daughters who are both married. Together, Scott and Carol have been blessed with six grandchildren.
