Jestina Weems wrote Micheal & Rolph back in 2012 for her oldest son and named the characters after her two brothers who had passed away. As a mother, Weems illustrates how many of us struggle with misconceptions, self-identity, love, courage, and choices; and how it's ok to be wrong sometimes, especially when you have been misinformed. The book teaches children how to be kind and loving not only to others but to themselves.
