Michael Vincent Dugher (26 April 1975) is a British Labour Party politician, who has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Barnsley East since 2010. Born and raised in Edlington, South Yorkshire, he went to school in the village and in Doncaster and graduated from the University of Nottingham. Prior to his election, he worked at 10 Downing Street as the Chief Political Spokesman for Prime Minister Gordon Brown. A party insider, he also worked as an advisor to the Department of Transport, Local Government and Regional Affairs and Ministry of Defence; as well as to the Leader of the House of Commons and the Government Chief Whip. He was formerly the Head of Policy of the trade union, AEEU. He has also been a lobbyist for EDS.
