Poverty alleviation with micro credit is now well recognized all over the world. Gender discrimination continues to be an enormous problem within Indian society. The role of women in the India's economic growth and development is inevitable. Empowerment is a multi-dimensional social process that helps people gain control over their own lives communities and in their society, by acting on issues that they define as important. The micro finance project intervention in terms of formation and stabilization of SHGs for extending credit support and promotion of thrift to promote viable economic activities. Self-helpgroups and Micro-finance are very closely linked, in that the former is used as a medium to generate and distribute financial capability so as to help deprived people to move up the income ladder.
