Sub-threshold micropulse diode laser (MPDL) has recently been shown to be effective in the treatment of CSME and seems to have a theoretical advantage, since the laser burns will affect deeper layers with relative sparing of the inner neurosensory retina, thus reducing the scarring and paracentral scotomas post-treatment. This work aims at assessing the effectiveness of micropulse diode laser versus conventional argon green laser for the treatment of clinically significant diabetic macular oedema regarding: Best corrected, visual acuity, Central macula thickness measurement by OCT, Contrast sensitivity and Post laser scarring.
