Globalization has given a new thrust to the international labour market, adding a new dimension to inter-state migration and inter-regional migration. Indeed labour migration is an important livelihood strategy in the developing countries like India. Many urban migrants find employment in factories, offices, shops, restaurants, dhaba, homes etc. But many do not also. Delhi is one of the fastest growing cities of India. Delhi has been attracting migrants through pull and also matrimonial factors from various states of Bihar, U.P., Maharashtra, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan since long and they opt rickshaw pulling because it is easy source of income. The present book, Migrant Rickshaw Pullers from Social Work Perspective: The Case of Delhi , is a soft attempt to paint a picture of the migrant rickshaw pullers and their socio-economic, living conditions in Delhi. The objective of the study is to examine the various socio-economic backgrounds, causes of migration of rickshaw pullers, living conditions and day to day problems and also coping mechanisms adopted by the rickshaw-pullers in dealing with various problems in Delhi. The book will consist of eight chapters.
