Migration has become a world-wide Phenomenon in recent years. Millions of people all over the world move out of their normal place of residence to seek their fortune elsewhere. In the past, military operations or political operations or political oppressions or religious persecution were the major causes of migrations of people to migrate places where has resources are many. The exact circumstances under which people migrate from time and place vary considerably. Migration is having far- reaching impact, not only on the migrants but also on the society at large both in the place of origin and destination. In this book an attempt is made an overview of the globally dispersed Indians through a brief historical, demographic, socio-economic and political profile of the countries having significant presence of the expatriate Indians or People of Indian Origin (PIOs) or Non-resident Indians (NRIs), the main objectives of the study are, to identify the socio-economic background of the migrants, to examine the impact of migration on socio economic development and to explore how the rural power structure is influenced by migration.
