The main purpose of this book is to analyze the changes in the daily lives of women from the Northeast who migrated permanently during the 1990s to the municipalities of Iturama, São Francisco de Sales, Itapagipe, Carneirinho and Limeira do Oeste-MG, together with their husbands attracted by the offer of work in the sugarcane production chain. To this end, ten women were interviewed who live in the municipalities mentioned, which are part of the Frutal micro-region, located in the Triângulo Mineiro and Alto Paranaíba meso-region. The changes in the national economic structure that took place during the second half of the 20th century were reflected in the agricultural sector, with changes such as the deregulation of the sugar cane production chain from the 1990s onwards, which displaced companies in the sector to the Center South. The proliferation of sugar and alcohol mills in the Triângulo Mineiro and Alto Paranaíba deserves to be highlighted in this work, intensifying the displacement of both seasonal workers and those who migrated permanently with their families.
